Happiness quanta

On the planet Skytopia, the inhabitants have invented a special term used to measure happiness. Basically, a creature's happiness at any one time is a level ranging from negative infinity to positive infinity. The unit type 'critons' is used whenever this value takes into account the dimension of time.

To cut a long story short, the predicted number of critons for all inhabitants is calculated whenever there are major planetry or local decisions to be made. Only creatures who are capable of experiencing happiness are capable of being assigned criton values, with the 'lower' creatures capable of less than the 'higher' ones.
